Arriving to Okinawa
VISION
When Christal Burnette first arrived in Okinawa, she expected to find a strong focus on the island’s renowned longevity. To her surprise, there wasn’t much. Determined to change that, she dedicated herself to studying Okinawan health and plants, eventually founding her own company to put Okinawan longevity back on the map. She earned her graduate degree from the University of the Ryukyus in 2018, then established Haitai Corporation. She later joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Okinawa and became an alumna of the Yoneyama Scholarship Foundation by the Rotary Club.

Living in Okinawa
MISSION
Haitai Corporation is on a mission to become the world's leading exporter of Okinawan products while unveiling the true secrets of Okinawan health and longevity. Christal Burnette is dedicated to bringing global awareness to Okinawa’s powerful yet overlooked traditions. While the Mediterranean Diet is widely recognized, the Okinawan Diet remains a hidden gem—Haitai is here to change that.

Providing Truth
VALUES
In 2019, during a visit home to Florida, Christal Burnette stopped by a cancer center that had purchased her fucoidan powder. Curious about their research, she spoke with a lead scientist—who revealed something shocking: out of over 50 fucoidan supplements tested, hers was the only one that was truly authentic. This was her first glimpse into the dark side of the health industry—rampant with fakes, scams, and misleading extremes. That moment shaped Haitai’s core value: to stand for truth, authenticity, and real, uncompromising quality.

Uncovering secrets
Yakuzen Healing
Christal Burnette completed an intensive Yakuzen training program, earning her title as a certified Yakuzen advisor. Yakuzen, the art of healing through food, forms the foundation of the traditional Okinawan diet—where food isn’t just nourishment but medicine. For generations, Okinawans have mastered the science of pairing ingredients and herbs to restore health. Now, Christal carries on this tradition, taking on patients who are seeking to heal naturally through the wisdom of Okinawan food therapy.

Favorites
Christal's favorite Okinawan plants are Chomeisou, a.k.a. long life herb, (of course!) and Ryukyu yomogi (Artemisia indica). She also loves tebichi, or pig's feet, a unique Okinawan delicacy.

Haitai Meaning
Haitai means 'hello' in Okinawan language, but is said by women! Men say 'haisai'. Along with that, Christal often says 'yutashiku' which is what Okinawan people say towards the end of a conversation and it means "please take care of me" or "I humbly ask for your kindness"—a polite way to make requests or express gratitude in Okinawan language.
